About

Charity jams was originally set up by Phil and Pippa to raise money for Macmillan Cancer support.

It all started when Phil was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer, he had to have an emergency operation to remove two and a half feet of his large bowel. After a short recovery for the surgery, Phil was referred to the Oncology department, where he was given the option of Chemotherapy which he accepted, this was a 6-month programme, with infusions every 3 weeks.

The Oncologist advised us that we should visit the Macmillan Centre and book for their "Demystifying Chemotherapy seminar", which was available that day, Pippa and I attended, and were given some very useful advice. I would recommend that anyone who is about to start chemotherapy attends this with their partner or carer as they will benefit from all the information.

So when life gave me lemons, I made Lemon Curd and sold it to support Macmillan.

We now support a range of local charities as well.

We now have a large range of jams and chutneys, including my Lemon Curd, that we sell at many events.

We donate £1.00 from every jar sold to a nominated charity at our events.

Purchases through personal collection & delivery, £1.00 goes to The Cat Welfare Group

Our Products

All our products are produced in the home using natural ingredients. We call it ‘Homemade in Hampshire’! Where possible, we use local ingredients too, often foraging in hedgerows or in friends’ orchards.

Phil & Pippa hold level 2 certificate in Food Hygiene; We like to keep everything meticulously clean! We use brand new jam jars and any returned for second usage which are sterilised in the dishwasher. All the jars are second-boiled to seal them.

We use the old-fashioned method of lemon juice and sugar to preserve the fruits, boiled to 105˚C for 12 minutes and tested for set using the cold plate method. Eggs used in the lemon curd are free range.

We hope you enjoy our range and if you have any comments or suggestions, pop us a line please!
